Lady Edwina

Grosvenor

Lady Edwina Grosvenor is a prison philanthropist having been involved in the prison system for over a decade.  Her passion lies in helping to keep offenders out of prison (and from re-offending) which really makes her an inspirational woman.   As an active member of The Clink charity (www.theclinkcharity.com), Edwina has poured all her energy into the inception of The Clink, which is the first fine dining training restaurant ever to be built inside a prison. The development of this restaurant has grown in a way that has engaged offenders, resulting in offending rates dropping from an average of 74% in first two years of release from prison, down to 9% in the first two years of release.     She is also involved in an organisation called Prison Me No Way (PMNW www.pmnw.co.uk/) which helps educate young people on the real life scenario of prison, which is having a significant impact on the local communities, already reducing the number of young people being involved in crime in those areas. Having studied Criminology and Sociology at Northumbria University and Criminal Behaviour at Edith Cowan University in Perth Western Australia, one of Edwina's focuses is helping reduce female offenders currently in the prison system.

It was a trip to Nepal’s Kathmandu Central Prison which cemented Edwina’s involvement with prisons in the UK. Whilst working for a charity called The Esther Benjamin Trust, Edwina saw innocent children being removed from prison where they were serving time alongside their parents, many of whom hadn’t yet been sentenced.

Edwina has worked in Styal prison (female prison in Manchester) and for many different organisations which work with inmates all over the country. For the last four years she has been working for the Bishop of Liverpool in his role as the Bishop of Prisons (England and Wales). As a Lord Bishop he gets to speak in the House of Lords on all prison issues and this is the role that she supports and advises on.

When Edwina is not with the Bishop she spends her time in prisons proactively working on projects.

Keeping people out of prison through PMNW and then helping them to prepare to re-join society when they do leave prison through The Clink is something Edwina feels strongly about.
